EPC’s & DEC’s

  
 

Faros now offer the provision of Non Domestic (Commercial) Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s) and Display Energy Certificates (DEC’s), through their team of fully accredited Energy Assessors.

  
 

EPC (Energy Performance Certificate)

  
 

Since 1st October 2008, in general, all commercial buildings that are being sold or let are required to have an EPC.

The Government developed EPC software generates an Asset Rating, showing the energy efficiency of the building and the carbon dioxide (CO²) emissions it produces. This is calculated from the building construction fabrics and the mechanical building services. Together, with the Certificate, a Recommendation Report is also produced, detailing any possible improvements that could be made to optimise the energy efficiency of the building and in turn reduce CO² emissions. DEC (Display Energy Certificate)

  
   

 

Since 1st October 2008, all buildings that are occupied by a public authority or, an institution providing a public service that are visited by a large number of persons, and having a total useable floor area (TUFA) greater than 1000m², are required to have a DEC.

 

The Government developed DEC software generates an Operational Rating, calculated from the actual energy consumption of the building over a 12 month period against the TUFA. The DEC shows how much energy the building uses and consequently how much CO² it produces annually. Along with the DEC, an Advisory Report is also produced, outlining any recommendations and possible improvements that could be made to help reduce energy consumption and therefore reduce CO² emissions.
